Rabat – Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced canceling some of its flights from and to Paris scheduled for Thursday, February 16 due to the latest national strike in France.

“Due to the strike notice on February 16 of the public service, relayed by the unions of the French DGAC, we are forced to proceed with the cancellation of some flights of the same day, from and to Paris,” Royal Air Maroc said in a statement.

In view of the expected strike, Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) has called on travelers heading to and from France between February 15 and 17 to contact their airlines and confirm if their flight was affected by the strike.

“We invite travelers to and from France to check their flight status with their airlines before getting to the airport,” said ONDA on Twitter.

Thursday will mark the fifth day of protests across France against the recently proposed pension reforms. Last month, the French government revealed plans to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.

The government’s proposal triggered outrage among French people, with the country’s labor unions, presenting workers from various sectors, organizing several protests to denounce the move.

In addition to Paris, which is expected to host the largest protest on Thursday, demonstrations will also take place in the cities of Nice, Bordeaux, Lille, Toulouse, and Montpellier, among others.

The strikes have heavily disturbed public services in France, including air and rail transportation services.

High-speed train service Eurostar, which links the UK to France, has announced canceling some of its services due to tomorrow’s strike, the Independent reported.

In addition, several airlines, including easyJet, Ryanair, and British Airways have announced canceling some of their flights from and to the French capital.
