Rabat –  Morocco’s Information Technology (IT)  leaders are expected to gather in Marrakech on November 15-17 to attend business-to-business Maroc IT meetings (MIT) and identify new business and technological opportunities.

Over 200 IT decision-makers from large Moroccan companies and administrations were invited to attend the third edition of MIT.

Cloud communication platform Infobip is the sponsor of the event. Infobip CEO Imane Rifki lauded the efforts made by the organizers to bring together Morocco’s leading IT companies in a “promising” and “IT-dedicated” event.

Through organizing B2B meetings, MIT gives “the opportunity to discover the best IT operators of the market,” Rifki said.

The participants are expected to attend a series of roundtables and workshops focusing on cloud management, cybersecurity, development operations (DevOps), big data, and artificial intelligence.

In late October, Morocco hosted a similar event in Marrakech. The AUSIM conference titled “Digital Nation: Unleash the Potential” attracted the attendance of IT operators in the country in addition to other stakeholders with Huawei featuring as the “Diamond” partner.

The event highlighted Morocco’s digitization efforts and the government’s ambition to introduce e-government solutions to facilitate administrative procedures for citizens and residents. While digitization appears to be a normal step in the development of the country, concerns over data privacy have been the subject of discussion among decision-makers and the general public.

Despite national efforts to neutralize cyber attacks, concerns over the country’s cybersecurity readiness persist with some reports stressing that the country is among the least cyber secure countries in the world.

In 2021, Morocco partnered with Israel’s National Cyber Directorate to foster cooperation in research and development and knowledge transfer. The partnership expects to build Rabat’s expertise in the cybersecurity field to counter future cyber risks.
