Rabat – The FIFA Women’s World Cup final draw placed Morocco’s national team in Group H alongside Germany, Columbia, and South Korea.

Morocco, currently ranked seventh in Africa and 76th in the world, are set to face Germany, the world’s third-best team in the group phase. The match between the Atlas Lionesses and their German counterpart is expected to be the toughest game for Morocco in the first phase of the World Cup.

In addition to facing international star players, Morocco will compete against South Korea which currently holds the 17th position in the FIFA world ranking. Columbia, the third team in the group, is also expected to give the Atlas Lionesses a hard time given that they rank 27th globally.

The Moroccan women’s team made history earlier this year after securing their first-ever qualification to the FIFA World Cup during the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Morocco’s 2-1 victory against Botswana not only helped the team reach the final against South Africa, but also allowed them to participate in the 2023 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20.

The much-anticipated global football event is set to gather 29 of the world’s best women’s national teams with many football players waiting for the New Zealand-Norway playoff in Group A and Australia’s game with the Olympian champions Canada in Group B.

Full Draw:

Group A: New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Switzerland
Group B: Australia, Ireland, Nigeria, Canada
Group C: Spain, Costa Rica, Zambia, Japan
Group D: England, playoff Group B winner, China, Denmark
Group E: US, Netherlands, Vietnam, playoff Group A winner
Group F: France, Jamaica, Brazil, playoff Group C winner
Group G: Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Argentina
Group H: Germany, Morocco, Colombia, South Korea
