Rabat – American football club Loudoun United FB announced on Friday the signing of a loan agreement for Moroccan 18-year-old international Hassan Aqboub from the Mohammed VI Football Academy.
The young football star will play with the American club for the remainder of the 2022 USL Championship season. The league lasts a total of 32 weeks.
“We are excited to add Hassan to the group,” said Ryan Martin, head coach of Loudoun United. “He is an exciting young attacker, who can play off the dribble or pass and create goals,” the coach added.
Some top international talents have emerged from the Mohammed VI Football Academy, including Spain’s Sevilla FC forward Youssef En-Nesiry and UK’s West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd. Morocco’s football star Hamza Mendil is another alumnus of the academy.
Born in 2004 in the Moroccan city of Meknes, Aqboub played with Morocco’s youth national teams at the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-20 levels.

In 2020, the left-winger took part in The Alkass International Cup, an annual under-17 football tournament hosted in Doha, Qatar. Aqboub produced an impressive performance at the tournament, in which his goal against Scottish Glasgow Rangers FC was voted as the competition’s best goal.
The Academy made history by becoming the first Moroccan club to reach the semi-finals of the Alkass tournament. The club further surpassed expectations after knocking out the Scottish club from the competition with a 3 – 2 victory.
Aqboub also received the player of the match award against Rangers, thanks to his spectacular performance.
King Mohammed VI established the football academy in 2009, with the aim of producing a well-trained new generation of Moroccan football players. The academy provides youngsters with great facilities, education, and mentoring.
