Saudi Arabia’s airline Saudia Airlines will launch a flight connecting Jeddah and Marrakech on May 30.

Al Arabiya reported that the flight is part of Saudi Airlines’ 10 new routes, which the company announced in February.

The flights are also part of the company’s summer destination program, seeking to expand international air routes to meet passengers’ needs.

The second flight between Jeddah and Marrakech will be the second of its kind for Saudi Airlines after Casablanca, according to Al Arabia.

The Saudi company will also launch flights to connect Malaga and Barcelona with Riyadh and Jeddah.

Morocco’s Marrakech is one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations. The city receives millions of tourists from across the world annually.

Due to COVID-19, however, the world’s tourism sector suffered repercussions due to travel restrictions.

In November 2021, the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) forecasted that the COVID-19 pandemic could cost the global tourism sector $2 trillion.

In response to the pandemic, Morocco’s government announced several measures to tackle the crisis in the sector.

The country’s Ministry of Tourism launched in February a $106.12 million package to support COVID-hit tourism establishments.

The government has so far approved MAD 2 billion ($212.24 million)  to support the recovery of the tourism sector impacted by COVID-19 repercussions.
