Akhannouch: Public Servants Must Respect COVID Measures

Rabat- Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held a meeting today with different governmental stakeholders to advance the national vaccination project within public administrations and institutions.

Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of Health Khaled Ait Taleb, Delegate Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform Ghita Mezzour, and Secretaries-general and HR managers at different Moroccan ministries and public institutions participated in the meeting, according to a press release.

The attendees evaluated the state of COVID-19 in Morocco and urged for the respect of all preventive measures within public establishments.

Akhannouch stressed the importance of adopting preventive measures against COVID-19 inside public administrations and institutions’ facilities as well as encouraging the employees to get their booster doses.

Through the respect of these measures, the public administration, and institutions “ensure the safety of employees,” maintain the same work pace, and “achieve [collective] immunity with the hope to return gradually to normal life,”  according to the press statement.

The general secretaries at different public ministries and institutions “expressed their firm desire to ensure compliance with all instructions, and to mobilize all resources to … protect human capital and maintain the safety of citizens,” it added.

Additionally, today’s meeting concluded with attendees agreeing that public establishments have to use modern technology to adapt to the COVID-induced disruptions, increase the efficiency of public facilities, and guarantee high-quality services.

In a meeting on January 31 with Laftit, Ait Taleb, and leaders of political parties, Akhannouch noted the need to accelerate the national vaccination to reach herd immunity.

While the COVID-19 third wave in Morocco is downgrading, Morocco reported yesterday alone 35 deaths.

As of February 1, the North African country has reached a total of 1,135,796 confirmed cases, including 1,083,477 recoveries and 15,435 deaths.
