Rabat- Muslims found anti-Islam phrases painted on the walls of the mosque, including “no to Islam” and “stop invasion,” targeting migrants.

Unidentified individuals painted Islamophobic phrases against Islam and Moroccans on the walls of a mosque in Murcia, Spain.

Anadolu Agency reported that the attack took place on Wednesday night when mosque-goers and people in the region found anti-Islam phrases spray-painted all over the mosque’s walls.

According to the news outlet, the individuals wrote phrases such as “no to Islam”, “stop the invasion” and “Spain’s sovereignty cannot be negotiated.”

The Islamophobic attack against Muslims and Islam has occurred for the second time in the Murcia region within a month.

In June, a Spanish man made derogatory remarks about Moroccans publicly before shooting a Moroccan migrant sitting at a cafe with his friends.

During the heinous crime, the Spanish gunman yelled racist and anti-Moroccan slurs as he committed the crime.

The 52-year-old defendant said, “I don’t want Moors in the place. The moors don’t have papers,”

The horrific murder came amid the arrival of irregular migrants to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta during mid-May.

Younes Blal, a 30-year-old Moroccan father, was the victim.

The xenophobic attack sparked outrage among the Moroccan community across Spain and nationwide.

In response, Moroccans launched an anti-racism campaign on social networks through the hashtag #Moroccanslivesmatter.

Moroccans in Spain also flocked to the streets in protest of brutality and discrimination they encounter in the European country

New data from Spain’s Ministry of Migration estimated the number of Moroccans in Spain at 811,50 as of December 2020.

The number represents a 2% increase in comparison to last year.
