Rabat – Morocco plans to set up an embassy in Zambia in September as the two African countries are interested in deepening bilateral relations, said Mounia Boucetta, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The announcement was made on Tuesday during a press conference which gathered together Boucetta and Zambian Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba. Boucetta was touring the African continent to follow up the projects launched by King Mohammed VI in several African countries.

During her visit, the secretary of state asserted that Morocco and Zambia need to have an action plan to facilitate the implementation of the 19 agreements signed between the two countries in February. She added that Zambia-Morocco co-operation will enhance the economies and the development of the two countries.

According to the news outlet Zambia Daily Mail, Boucetta said, “On February 19 to 21 the king inaugurated a new era in the relations between Morocco and Zambia in numerous fields.” She went on to add that “Morocco will continue to support Zambia’s socio-economic development.”

The Secretary of State had also paid a visit to Ethiopia and Rwanda in order to follow up on the partnership agreements concluded during the Royal visit in 2016.
