Rabat – Zane Kirby, President and CEO of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) said that Morocco is one of the “most popular and interesting” destinations that must be discovered.

Speaking to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) Agency, Kirby, who had led a delegation of about 300 representatives of American travel agencies to Morocco in February, expressed “great satisfaction” after his visit to the kingdom which enabled him to interact with the local counterparts and to discover the country’s tourism potentials.

He said that the period of their stay in Morocco had exceeded all expectations, adding that this feeling is shared by all the professionals, who described as “serious and credible” the meetings held in Morocco.

Following the success of the visit, ASTA President decided to extend his stay in the kingdom with his family, expecting at the same time a rise in the numbers of American tourists who would choose Morocco as their next holiday destination, MAP added.

According to the Moroccan National Tourist Office in New York, 300,000 tourists from North America visited Morocco between January and November 2014, a 5 per cent increase compared with the same period of last year.

In light of these figures, Abdul Ali Zouiten, the General Director of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, said that his office want to take advantage of this upward trend and focus on new sectors in order to “adapt to the new needs of American customers who are looking mostly for high quality standards.”
