Marrakech – Over 300 senior civil and military officials, security experts and representatives of international organisations are expected to take part in the 6th Marrakech Security Forum on February 13-14.
Held under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI under the theme “Africa in the face of transnational asymmetric threats”, the meeting will offer a venue for debate, analysis and exchange of experience on a range of security issues, the event’s organizers, the Moroccan Centre for Strategic Studies (CMES) said.
Organized in partnership with the African Federation for Strategic Studies, the Forum will tackle issues relating to security fragility in north Africa and the evolving transnational threats, security in the Sahel and the Sahara along with other security challenges relating to separatist movements.
The issue of maritime security in the Mediterranean, the horn of Africa and the southern Atlantic will also be tackled along with the threats posed by pandemics such as Ebola.
The meeting will be an opportunity to deal other new security threats such as foreign terrorist fighters and cyber-terrorism.
