Rabat- Abdelilah Benkirane, Morocco’s head of government, warned citizens against interfering on matters concerning the state’s power to maintain and uphold law and order.

During the Government Council held on Thursday in Rabat, the head of government tackled the incidents of the girls of Inezgane and the alleged gay man of Fez who had both been the subject to public punishment.

The head of government reminded all citizens that “the state doesn’t need partners in the fight against infringements or breaches of law and morals.”

Benkirane reiterated that “he has no tolerance for any citizen that exercises the powers of the state,” adding that anyone who thinks differently can address their concern to the authorities.

“No one has the right to be self-proclaimed as a judge or a substitute for justice,” he said.

Addressing his speech to the citizens who had assumed a position as protectors of morals, Benkirane also announced that “those who are responsible for acts of violence do not respect the principles and traditions of the Moroccan society.”
