Algiers, January 23, 2012 (MAP)

Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Mdeleci expressed, on Monday in Algiers, his country’s willingness to push cooperation with Morocco “to its peak” in various fields.

“We are willing in Algeria to push this cooperation (with Morocco) to its peak, and we have recorded in 2011 fruitful initiatives and visits, along with agreements, some of which need to be implemented,” Medelci said at joint press conference with his Moroccan peer Saad Eddine Othmani after tlaks between the two sides.

Medelci cited the fields of energy, water, agriculture, fisheries, and youth and sports, noting that it was agreed to expand cooperation to other areas such as education, training and scientific research.

He stressed that his country is driven on by a firm will to promote relations with Morocco in various areas.

As regards the Maghreb, Medelci said the changes that took place in the region call for concerted efforts as well as revitalizing the Union’s institutions and giving substance to the concept of economic integration between the countries of the Maghreb (Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia).
