The Court of Appeal in Salé decided Monday night to reduce sentences against 12 defendants prosecuted in terrorism cases.
The court decided to reduce from 12 to 10 years in prison the sentence against the main accused, 8 to 7 years in prison for five defendants and 7 to 5 years in prison for six others.
The Criminal Trial in January 2010 had issued sentences ranging from 4-15 years in prison against this group for its alleged involvement in terrorist acts.
Members of this group was disbanded in late 2008, continued, each in his case, for “setting up criminal gang to prepare and commit terrorist acts as part of a collective plot to seriously undermine public order through threats, intimidation and violence, glorifying terrorism, holding public meetings without authorization, possessing and manufacturing explosives and membership of a banned religious group.”
