Hassna Khoulali, a Moroccan girl and winner of an international prize in Qur’an reciting, was warmly received and highly honored by king Mohamed VI on Wednesday at Mohamed V mosque in Tangier.
During her interview with Hespress, an online news outlet, Hassna expressed ineffable gladness over meeting with the king. She also owed a great debt of gratitude to the king for honoring her and being proud of her.
At the meeting which coincided with Laylato al Qadr, the Night of Destiny, Hassna received a royal gift and a Quran from the king. Gifts and/or honors given by the king are considered a symbol of appreciation on behalf of the Moroccan nation.
Upon receiving the royal prize, Hassna declared that the king is “such as a nice, modest man!”
In the end, Hassna warmly thanked the king for giving her the attention she deserved upon receiving an international prize in Malaysia.
On this occasion, Hassna wished Moroccans in particular and the Muslim community in general a happy Eid El Fitr.
Hassna Khoulali, a 19-year-old university student and winner of several prizes in Morocco, won the international tajwid (melodic recitation of the Qur’an) prize in Malaysia. She is the first Moroccan and Arab girl to win such an honorable prize worldwide.
