Rabat –  The International Committee in Support the Palestinian people expressed satisfaction with Morocco’s unwavering and unlimited solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.

The committee issued a statement on Monday, January 13, to pay tribute to Morocco and to King Mohammed VI for the “unlimited political and material support for the Palestinian cause and Al Quds [Jerusalem].”

The statement recalled King Mohammed VI’s message addressed to the Chairman of the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, cheikh Niang on November 29, the annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

In the message, the King reiterated Morocco’s solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and“reaffirming the Kingdom of Morocco’s immutable position and unwavering support for the Palestinians.”

“I should like to take this opportunity to reiterate our solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and reaffirm the Kingdom of Morocco’s immutable position and unwavering support for the Palestinians,” the King said.

For Morocco, Palestine and its people must enjoy their legitimate rights, including the right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“These rights are in accordance with international legitimacy and the relevant UN resolutions,” the monarch argued.

On Monday, the international committee held a meeting chaired by Talea Saoued El Atlassi, the body’s President.

During the meeting, participants discussed the action plan for 2020 and the events set to take place globally throughout the year, including the creation of the Palestine Prize for Solidarity.

The prize seeks to recognize the efforts of individuals in support of the Palestinian cause.

The committee also spoke about the position of the Palestinians and their resilience in preserving their identity and unity in the recent Israeli elections against the far-right led by Benjamin Netanyahu and his government.

The committee concluded its statement, expressing full support for Palestine and its leaders, including President Mahmoud Abbas.

The committee is based in Rabat. It is part of the Organization of Solidarity of Afro-Asian Peoples, which includes the peace and solidarity committees of 15 countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Morocco is among the most vocal countries in defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, rejecting any hostile actions against the Palestinian state.

The North African country also refuses any move towards normalization with Israel and condemns its actions and human rights violations against Palestinians.
