The opening of the spring session of the two Houses of Parliament and the acts of violence and vandalism following the Raja Casablanca-FAR soccer game are the key topics that dominated the editorials of Moroccan dailies on Monday.
Entitled “Spring desolation,” “Aujourd’hui le Maroc” writes that “the long-awaited spring session due to the strategic nature of the bills to be discussed has began badly,” stressing that “despite the presence of TVs, very few MPs of both Houses have made the effort to make it to the event. “
With the title “Basta football,” “Le Soir Echos” stresses that “given the deplorable events on Thursday on the sidelines of a football match, serious and firm measures should be taken in the forum of an urgent action plan,” noting that “as this phenomenon spirals out of control, it is imperative that all meetings scheduled in the coming weeks, if not suspended, be held behind closed doors until a serious proposal is devised to avoid chaos like the one witnessed in Casablanca for several hours.”
For its part, “L’Economiste” argues that “the issue of soccer violence comes to no one‘s surprise,” stressing “the need to severely punish this crime.”
Review of Apr. 15 editorials For its part, “Annahar Al Maghribia” wonders about who’s in charge of protecting public and private property from the perpetrators of these acts of violence and vandalism, noting that this responsibility lies first and foremost in the school, family and the media, which should disseminate the culture of respect for public property and other civic behaviors.
