Fez- Mohamed Hassad, who was appointed on Thursday Minister of the Interior, was born November 17, 1952 in Tafraout in southern Morocco.

Mr. Hassad is a graduate of Paris’ Ecole Polytechnique for engineers in 1974 and Paris’ National School of Bridges and Roads in 1976. Between 1976 and 1981, he was the regional director of public works in the province of Fez, and Taounate Boulemane.

From 1985 to 1993, he served as Director General of the National Port Operations Office (ODEP), before being appointed on 11 November 1993 , Minister of Public Works, vocational training and training of professionals.

On 31 January 1995, Mr. Hassad was appointed CEO of Royal Air Morocco before taking elected, in February 1997, President of the International Air Transport Association in Francophone countries.

On 27 July 2001 he was appointed Wali of the region of Marrakech- Tensift- El Haouz, then in June 2005, Wali of the region of Tangier-Tetouan and governor of Tangier-Asilah.

In November 2012, he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Company Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency.

Mr. Assad has been decorated with Wissam Al Arch of the order of an officer.
