Sidi Ifni- In an interview with a French Magazine, a famous French journalist talks about racism in her country and says  that she has been facing it on a daily basis since she married a French Moroccan actor.

Since Mélissa Theuriau, a French journalist, married Jamal Debouze, a French Moroccan actor, in 2008. Ever since, she has been living a nightmare, as she received a larger number of unfriendly emails from some French people, who lashed out at her for marrying a man they label as “disabled”.

In an interview with the French magazine Paris Match, Mélissa said that France is “ a racist country and her choice annoys people.”

“Jamal says that France is not a racist country. I don’t agree with his opinion,” she noted.

The comments she receives every day are a clear sign that some French people do not tolerate difference, disability and diversity.

The journalist says that almost every week people tell her via emails that you “brought shame to France by marrying a disabled Arab man who cannot utter an immaculate phrase in French;”

“Plus, he will die very soon,“ they added.

Blessed with two children, a boy and a girl, Mélissa confessed to not being able to sleep well for weeks because of the disastrous impact such comments have left on her personal and married life.

Even though Jamal Debouze helped her overcome and get over the curse of the comments, she continues to underscore that France is “a country of racism and discrimination”.

“France does not accept its other citizens,” Mélissa added.

It is worth noting that the French government has lately been harshly slammed for not adopting a strict policy to curb the phenomenon of racism that is incessantly growing rampant in the country.
