Fez- Saudi Arabia denied on Monday any contact or cooperation with Israel against Iran’s nuclear program. Like the overwhelming majority of Arab countries, Saudi Arabia has no diplomatic ties with the Hebrew State.
The kingdom “has no relations or contacts with Israel of any kind or at any level,” said a foreign ministry spokesman, quoted by state news agency SPA on Monday.
British newspaper, Sunday Times, on Sunday claimed that Saudi Arabia is working closely with Israel to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear power.
“Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency is working with Saudi officials on contingency plans for a possible attack on Iran if its nuclear program is not significantly curbed in a deal that could be signed in Geneva this week,” the British newspaper said.
“As part of the growing cooperation, Riyadh is understood already to have given the go-ahead for Israeli planes to use its airspace in the event of an attack on Iran,” it added.
While Iran is part of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Israel is the only country in the Middle East that is not part of the NPT.
It is also the only nuclear power of the region and is opposed to the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free-zone in the Middle East.
