Montreal- A large demonstration was held Sunday in Montreal in solidarity with the Palestinian people of Gaza to protest against the barbaric offensive by the Israeli army in the Palestinian enclave, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries among civilians, mostly children and women.

Organized by a broad coalition of trade unions, popular, political and community organizations of Quebec, the march was an opportunity to express total support for the people of Gaza and call for the immediate cessation of Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians.

The protesters took advantage of this march to denounce the “complicity” and “inaction” of the Canadian government of Stephen Harper and the opposition political parties at the federal level, which have “shamefully failed their responsibility demand respect for international humanitarian law by Israel “, and the silence of the Quebec government regarding the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

“Israel kills children of Palestine”, “Free Gaza! Free Palestine!”, “Long live Palestine! Vivid Gaza! Sharp resistance”, “Stop the genocide!” Chanted in unison protesters waving flags Palestinians. All organizations that took part in the march called for “the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression in all its forms”, “end of the blockade imposed on Gaza,” “the end of the occupation and Israeli colonization Palestinian territories,” and the achievement of real solution to the conflict based on justice and respect for international law.

In speeches delivered by representatives of several civil society organizations in Quebec who participated in the solidarity march, they called for a boycott of Israel and stressed that the voices of the protesters will continue to be heard in the streets through the various Canadian organizations and social media, especially in the upcoming federal elections scheduled for October 2015.
