Rabat – During a Rabat meeting held last Thursday, which was chaired by Aziz Rabbah, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Logistics, the board of the Moroccan National Railways (ONCF) approved a capital budget of MAD 7.5 billion for the year 2015.

Almost half of this budge, MAD 4 billion, will be allocated to the high speed line (TGV) currently under construction, while 3.5 billion will be used for the modernization of the existing (conventional) network.

This will include the construction of a third track on the railway between the cities of Casablanca and Kenitra, the track doubling of the Settat – Marrakech line, the strengthening of security and safety, the construction of new stations, renovation of rolling stock and the acquisition of new trains.

Mohamed Rabie Khlie, managing director of ONCF, said that the investments are in line with the government’s 2015 finance act and the provisions of ONCF’s 2010-015 contract with the state.
