Just six days ahead of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA has sent an official letter to national football federations revealing new details about the clubs’ benefits program. According to the letter, the program is designed to compensate clubs that release players for international duty, including Moroccan sides Raja Casablanca, AS FAR, and RS Berkane.
Converging reports indicate the payments will depend on the number of matches played, while also taking into consideration the days players spend with their national teams.
The FIFA program is part of a renewed agreement with the European Club Association. The total fund is set at 355 million dollars, up to 70 percent increase compared to the 2022 World Cup.
During the qualifying phase, the clubs are set to earn around 100 million dollars. Each one of them will receive payments based on player appearances, and the number of matches played. With 905 qualifying matches, they are expected to earn around 2,360 dollars per player per match, in the finals, the clubs with players taking part will get a further 250 million dollars.
Several Moroccan clubs are expected to benefit from this programme, including RS Berkane, AS FAR, and Raja Club Athletic. These clubs will be compensated for releasing players to the Moroccan national team. The minimum payment is expected to be around 5,000 dollars per player per day, although final figures will be confirmed after the tournament.
The remaining 5 million dollars will be kept for administrative costs, and later used to support football development projects worldwide.
