Rabat – Morocco’s railways operator ONCF has pledged to improve quality after technical problems caused long delays.
ONCF said in a statement that technical problems and construction work caused long delays in the arrival of trains and has vowed to implement an “immediate action plan” to improve the quality of its services.
The company said that delays were caused by technical problems at the overhead cable system in the El Mansouria station on Wednesday May 12th, and that it is being renewed (progress rate 70 per cent).
Disruptions were also due to the fact that part of the company’s fleet is being maintained and renovated in preparation for the summer period, in addition to construction work on the two existing tracks and overhead cable system on the Kenitra-Casablanca axis (progress rate: 65 per cent).
Renovating signaling installation and improving security of the rail network (constructing footbridges and wall fences) also caused delays, the company added.
Therefore, ONCF has promised to improve punctuality, comfort, availability of equipment and the flow of travelers. It also said it will not reduce the number of daily trains and will mobilize teams to conduct maintenance work during the night.
