Rabat – Police arrested two members of a bandit gang which uses young girls to lure and rob drivers in Skhirat and Temara.
According to daily newspaper Al Akhbar, the five-member gang, including three girls, is allegedly led by a 17-year-old who had already served time in prison.
Their modus operandi was that the girls would identify potential targets at the Hassan II Avenue in Rabat before ‘innocently’ asking for a ride.
The girls would then ask the driver to stop at pre-designated place. When the victim takes them to that location, the gang members would attack the victim and rob them.
One of their victims is an employee from the capital Rabat who was assaulted by four members of the gang and left him with a severed finger.
Three members of the gang are still on the loose. The two arrested were brought before the public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Rabat on Monday.
