Rabat – A hate-monger mob shouted anti-gay slurs at a man they perceived to be homosexual before punching him repeatedly in the face, shows a new video posted on YouTube.
The 55-second video now making the rounds on social media in Morocco shows a ‘homosexual’ young man being attacked by at least three people for wearing a bra and makeup in public.
According to the video, the homophobic mob and the young man had a verbal confrontation before they punched him and repeatedly kicked him in the face
The mob assaulted him while calling him homophobic epithets. They also forced him to remove all of his clothing before allowing him to leave. The victim can also be seen deeply traumatized following the homophobic attack in the street.
This comes only few months after another homosexual man in the city of Fez was brutally beaten and booed by dozens of angry men while hurling anti-gay slurs.
The Moroccan criminal code prohibits sex between men and can be punished with anything from 6 months to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 120 to 1200 dirhams.
