Rabat – Moroccan kickboxer, Badr Hari, was sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday by a Dutch court after having been found guilty of a number of violent assaults in the capital city of Amsterdam.

On Thursday, an Amsterdam appellate court re-sentenced Moroccan kickboxing champion, Badr Hari, to a 24-month prison term, which will include a 10 month conditional probation period, Dutch media reported.

Hari was convicted of several violent assaults, including an assault on Dutch businessman Koen Everink that occurred in a skybox during the dance festival Sensation at the Amsterdam Arena in 2012.

Hari committed five violent assaults in a number of Amsterdam (what nightclubs between 2011 and 2012, including a grievous assault, two attempted aggravated assaults, and two assaults.

The court said in a statement that the professional kick boxer “misused his physical superiority” as an aggravating factor in his assaults.

Hari was sentenced last year to a year and a half in prison, six months of which conditionally suspended. Last month, the Moroccan Kick Boxing champion appeared in court in Amsterdam for the appeal against his sentence.

During the appeal, Hari apologized to his most recent victim, Koen Everink. The businessman had recently stated that he is still suffering physical and mental consequences of the assault.
