Rabat – Following reports claiming that Saudi Arabia’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal said he would stand with Israel for the sake of stopping Iran, Prince Alwaleed office released a statement saying these reports are “fabricated”.
On Tuesday, AWD News ran a controversial report, claiming that Saudi Prince al-Waleed bin Talal said that he would side with Israel in case of outbreak of Palestinian uprising (Intifada). The news story went viral on social media, and was picked up by several news outlets worldwide, without any fact-checking.
AWD News alleged that Kuwaiti daily Al Qabas newspaper quoted Prince al-Waleed as saying: “I will side with the Jewish nation and its democratic aspirations in case of outbreak of a Palestinian Intifada (uprising).”
“I shall exert all my influence to break any ominous Arab initiatives set to condemn Tel Aviv, because I deem the Arab-Israeli entente and future friendship necessary to impede the Iranian dangerous encroachment,” Prince Alwaleed allegedly said, according to AWD News.
Meanwhile, Prince Alwaleed office released a statement this Thursday, saying that the story and the statements attributed to him by AWDNews.com “are wholly fabricated and false.”
“Prince Alwaleed did not speak to the Kuwait News Agency as the story claims or any other entity, for that matter, nor has Prince Alwaleed ever made any of the statements attributed to him in the story,” the statement reads.
Prince Alwaleed office explained that AWDnews.com has falsely fabricated stories about Prince Alwaleed in the past, and they have never contacted his office.
