New York – American actor Leonardo DiCaprio expressed in a video his love for Morocco and his desire to return to such “fabulous” and “beautiful” country.
DiCaprio’s video was aired on Friday at the 15th Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), during the tribute ceremony paid to American actor, writer and producer Willem Dafoe, according to HuffPost Maroc.
The “Titanic” star mentioned his work trips to shoot films in Morocco and how much he enjoyed his time with Moroccans whom he called “extraordinary”.
“I spent four wonderful months during a shoot in Morocco. I went back for a period of two weeks to shoot the movie Inception. People are extraordinary,” Leo said.
“It was fabulous. I know Martin returned there several times because it is so alive, so beautiful. It’s full of energy. I hope to return there,” he added.
Leonardo DiCaprio was honored at the 2007 Marrakech International Film Festival, where he received FIFM’s highly-acclaimed Grand Prize “L’Etoile d’Or” (Golden Star) in recognition of his entire acting career.
The 41-year-old star born in Hollywood, California had received “L’Etoile d’Or” from the hands of American director, producer and screenwriter Martin Scorsese.
DiCaprio’s successful career has earned him 34 awards from 137 nominations.
He has been nominated for five Academy Awards, ten Golden Globe Awards, winning two, nine Teen Choice Awards with two wins, and eight Screen Actor Guild Awards.
He has also won three MTV Movie Awards from thirteen nominations.
