Rabat – On Sunday Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a video greeting all Muslims on the occasion of Ramadan.
Trudeau addressed Muslim communities both in Canada and around the world, wishing them a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.
“Ramadan reminds all of us to show appreciation for the countless blessings we enjoy and to put the needs of others before our own,” Trudeau said.
In this message, Trudeau mentioned many virtues that come along with the Holy month of Ramadan, including “patience, closeness to God, and generosity towards the less fortunate.”
In previous interviews with the Canadian TV channel CBC, Trudeau mentioned that “Canadians are quick to point out that ISIS is wrong, that Islam is not incompatible with the Western secular democracy, a free place like Canada. But on the other hand, we need to make sure that we’re working with communities like the Muslim community for examples to demonstrate that Islam is incompatible with free and open Western societies.”
The Canadian Prime Minister also called for the recognition of the many contributions made by Muslim communities, enriching Canada’s national fabric. Trudeau described cultural diversity in Canada as one its greatest strengths and a source of pride.
