Cleveland – Morocco is characterized by its “unique experience” in the field of deradicalization and counter-terrorism, Walid Phares, Donald Trump’s top foreign policy advisor, said on Thursday in Cleveland (State of the Ohio)
“The Kingdom has made huge efforts in the fight against violent extremism, notably through education”, said this expert in issues related to international security, terrorism and the MENA region, during a meeting organized by the American Jewish Committee (AJC), on the sidelines of the Republican Party convention held in Cleveland since last Monday.
Walid Phares stressed that the fight against terrorism necessarily involves a logic of cooperation between the United States and MENA countries, “a part of the world where Morocco enjoys a leadership position”.
Phares was the director of international relations and political science at BAU International University since 2013, and he has been the provost as of 2014; he is on leave now. The Trump foreign policy analyst also served as an adviser to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.
