Ra??at – An eyewitness who was in the scene of the incident where Mouhcine Fikri died, crushed inside of a garbage compactor says that it is “unconceivable that the driver or his assistance could have pushed the button” to crush him.
The witness was on his way to the victim’s funeral he began to relate his version of the Fikri story by saying that he “had illegally bought a type of fish from the port.” He added that he authorities are well aware of this illegal fish trade but do nothing to stop it.
“The poor man and his partners take this merchandise to Tangier where they make MAD 5 profit per kilo […] when he took the fish to transport it to Tangier, a police officer caught him because he did not have an exit ticket as the fish is not legal. Therefore, he ran away from the police man.”
Police then intercepted Fikri in front of the Court and called the garbage truck to confiscate his merchandise in front of the Court, which he finds “absurd”.
“The poor man saw his merchandise being thrown in the garbage truck, he could have killed someone or committed suicide.”
The eyewitness is asserting that, instead of letting him get into the truck to save his merchandise, the police should have handcuffed him, taken him to the police station and “taken the ordinary procedure against him.”
The eyewitness’ account of the tragedy runs contrary to what has spread across social media; that a police officer ordered the civil servants to push the button of the truck’s compactor where the victim sat. This witness says that one of the protestors might have pushed it accidently:
“It is unconceivable that the driver or his assistant could have pushed the button because they know the repercussion of such action. This proves that he will not push the button to crush a man inside.”
