Rabat – Two Moroccan nationals suspected of supporting ISIS were arrested on Wednesday morning in Madrid’s outskirts and the Basque Country, according to Spain’s Interior Ministry.
The same source said that “one of the suspects has played a major role in recruiting [young jihadists] to fight in the ranks of ISIS by promoting the Islamic States’ doctrines.”
The source continued, “The suspect adopted the extremist thoughts of ISIS by watching online videos of ISIS suicide attacks.”
This is not the first time Spanish authorities have arrested terrorists linked to ISIS, Earlier this year, Spain’s police arrested two Moroccan men accused of planning an attack in Europe.
To date, Spanish authorities have arrested 170 suspects of terrorists linked to ISIS.
