Casablanca — A new ranking released by Airhelp has named the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) as the best airline in Africa and the 40th in the world.
The ranking in question was released by AirHelp Score, a worldwide airlines ranking taking into account quality and service, punctuality and claim processing.
“We provide statistics on the quality of amenities, on-time arrivals, and how well they resolve flight delay compensation claims,” says the AirHelp site, which helps users file claims with airlines due to delayed, canceled or overbooked flights.
This year, the RAM was given a score of 8 for quality and service, 9.1 for on-time performance and and 4 for claim processing, giving it 40th place in world rankings. The Royal Air Maroc’s low score of 4 for claim processing is likely what held back the airline in its world ranking this year.
Nonetheless, the Moroccan airline was still ranked as best in the African continent, above Ethiopian Airlines (#55), Tunisair (#60) and Air Algeria (#75).
In comparison, Air Arabia Maroc, Morocco’s other national airline, got a low ranking of 71 this year, with a quality and service score of 6, an on-time performance score of 9.5 and an incredibly low 1.3 score for claim processing.
This year, the world’s top five airlines were Qatar Airways, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Singapore Airlines and KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines, while the world’s lowest ranking airlines were China Eastern Airlines, Air Algeria, Egyptair, Air China and Onur Air.
