Tara – Princess Lalla Salma, chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, launched, on Tuesday in Taza, the awareness-raising campaign for breast cancer screening and inaugurated the Center for breast and cervical cancer early detection, on the national day against cancer.
The 2016 campaign is meant to encourage women over 40 to get tests.
Through this communication action, the Lalla Salma Foundation aims to generalize the screening and reassure women by showing that there are concrete solutions for patients.
Under the theme “early detection saves lives,” this awareness campaign, which runs from November 22 through December 11, aims to touch one million women between the age of 40 and 69.
Princess Lalla Salma also inaugurated the Center for breast and cervical cancer early detection.
The construction and equipment of this new center, as part of a partnership project developed between the Lalla Salma Foundation, the Ministry of Health and a philanthropist of the region, is part of the extension of the early detection program of breast and cervical cancers in the Fez-Meknes region.
The implementation of this project, spread over an area of 365 m2 and whose human resources are provided by the Ministry of Health, has required a budget of 3.5 million dirhams.
This new structure will provide 6,000 consultations per year for the detection and early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancers.
Princess Lalla Salma had previously attended presentations by officials in the health sector on the regional plan of oncology care offer, data on the campaign for early detection of cancer in the Fes-Meknès region and the national action plan of the awareness-raising and early detection campaign.
