Rabat – Tramway network firm, Casa Tramway, has reportedly decided to raise the price of a ticket to 8 dirhams, beginning January 1st.
Beginning January 2017, tramway passengers in Casablanca will pay an additional dirham for their ticket. This rate increase comes after a campaign encouraging tramway users to begin using the monthly electronic card.
According to French-language news source, L’Economiste, the price for the one-way-travel will remain at 6 dirhams, but the price for the paper ticket will go up to 2 dirhams.
The news source added that the increase would inspire passengers to use the rechargeable card as well as help the company overcome its deficit, which has reached MAD 80 million a year.
