Rabat – The Peru-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group has expressed its approval for the referral of the Gdim Izik case to a civil court, noting that all the conditions are being met for a fair and just judgment.Â
In a statement issued by the friendship group, it endorsed the latest statements of international observers “considering that all the conditions are met to move from a special jurisdiction to a civil court, while offering guarantees for a fair trial and respect for the human rights of both victims and offenders.”
After recalling the acts of violence committed by “infiltrated terrorist elements of the Polisario during the peaceful dismantling of Gdim Izik’s camps,” the friendship group denounced the acts as being committed using “techniques similar to the terrorist guerrillas of the Sahel”.
Members of this group also rejected media manipulation of the events of Gdim Izik by elements who, in their opinion, are engaged in Polisario activism. According to the group these members of the media “invoke a fictitious political persecution to support the aggressors and deny the families of Victims their right to claim justice “.
