Rabat – The terrorist attack that targeted a high-end restaurant and lounge in Istanbul in the early hours of Sunday has claimed the lives of two Moroccans, according to Moroccan authorities.

A statement released by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday night confirmed the death of two Morocco in the tragic attack that shook the Turkish city.

“His Majesty The King, May God Assist him, has kindly given his Highest Instructions to take charge of the transfer of the remains of Moroccan citizens who died in the terrorist attack that struck an touristic site on in Istanbul on Saturday, as well as hospitalization costs for nationals injured during the same attack,” the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign affairs said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

“At this stage, and based on contacts between the Moroccan Embassy in Ankara and the Turkish authorities, the death of two Moroccan nationals has been confirmed. Four others of Moroccan nationality are hospitalized due to the injuries sustained during the attack,”  the statement added.
