Rabat – SouthMed CV, funded by the European Union (EU), has selected ten Moroccan organizations from Tangiers, Marrakesh and Casablanca through which to fund and support cultural projects in the southern Mediterranean.
The European Union selected four Moroccan projects to be granted a fund of EUR 209,014 for nine to twelve months as well as six partnerships between Moroccan organizations and other countries in the southern Mediterranean.
The cultural center “Le 18” in Marrakech was selected for Kibrit, a collaborative research and production program dedicated to contemporary artistic and curatorial practices which aims to highlight cultural heritage and collective memory of Morocco.
The Espace Tabadoul in Tangier has set up the Tanjazz Young Talent Competition, which supports young citizens in their artistic and cultural expressions and promotes the participation of young people and women in musical activities.
Also in Tangier, the Dabateatre association inaugurated the “Proposal for a Metropole” project to provide a creative and artistic response to the socio-cultural and urban challenges at stake in the city.
Roots Association was selected for MARSAD-Mediterranean Action and Research for Sustainability and Development. This program aims to create a collective platform for research, implementation, monitoring and observation of cultural policies in the region.
Alongside these four projects, six partnerships with Moroccan organizations have also been set up, namely the Observatory Workshop, the Opprimé Theater, the Casablanca School of Architecture, the Insolite Library, Skefkef Magazine and Espace Darja.
Cultural projects in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia were also selected by the EU as part of SouthMed CV’s initiatives in the southern Mediterranean.
SouthMed CV, created by the European Med Culture program, supports artistic and cultural projects in the southern Mediterranean by providing financial support.
