Rabat – The Moroccan Royal family celebrated the 39th birthday of Princess Lalla Salma on Wednesday.
The princess was born in 1978 to an upper middle class family originating from Morocco’s spiritual capital, Fes.
The consort of King Mohammed VI, she is the President of the Lalla Salma Association for the Fight Against Cancer.
In 2016, the princess was awarded the prestigious ” Tribute Award” for her efforts in the fight against cancer by Prince Charles Philippe of Orleans during the third edition of “Bal de la Riviera,” which took place in Estroil, Portugal.
She was voted the most elegant woman attending the coronation ceremony of the new Dutch King Willem-Alexander as his mother Queen Beatrix in 2013.
That same year, she also received the Medal of Excellence for the Most Influential Figures in the World in the field of “Peace and Human Rights” by the International Council of Human Rights, Arbitration, Politics and Strategic Studies.
In 2011 British magazine Hello voted her Most Attractive Woman at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The princess was married to King Mohammed VI in July, 2002. She became the first wife of a Moroccan king to appear in public and to be given the title of Princess.
