Rabat – Starting from the next academic year, French will be taught in first year of primary education, announced education minister Mohamed Hassad on Tuesday during the oral questions session in the House of Representatives.
The Ministry of National Education announced earlier that the academic year will start on Thursday, September 7 for the three educational stages as well as the college preparatory courses.
The decision was announced as part of the Ministerial Decision on the organization of the 2018-2017 academic year, which aims to identify the various processes and activities programmed in the three educational stages and sections of the college preparatory courses.
The ministry said that it has programmed a holiday after every seven weeks of study on average, in an attempt to ensure a balanced distribution of study periods, preparation for exams and school holidays. It also decided to consolidate the school holidays for all regions, as a result of an evaluation organized by the ministry of all the regional academies of education and training regarding the regional division of holidays.
