Rabat – Román Escolano, vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) will visit Morocco on July 6 and 7 to sign contracts concerning funding for Diana Holding and the Euromed University of Fez.

“These [contracts] are symbolic financing, the first for the EIB in the highly strategic sectors of Morocco: the private sector agro-industrial sector and the training of youth in a university of excellence, Euromed University of Fez,” stated Escolano.

During his two-day visit, the EIB vice president will hold meetings with various ministers in the government and representatives of the diplomatic and financial world.

The two new loans will raise the total amount of EIB investment in Morocco since 2007 to EUR 2.7 billion.

Within the Moroccan economy, the EIB is focused on supporting main sectors, including: transport, energy transition, education and training for youth, water, sanitation, support for small-medium businesses (SMEs) and micro businesses.

Escolano began his role as vice president of the EIB on September 1, 2014.
