Rabat – Moroccan TV channel 2M discussed the parking costs in Casablanca that have outraged the city’s residents, during a newscast aired earlier this week.
The video shows the unhappiness of residents regarding the prices for on-street parking in Casablanca, including areas in Ain Diab and near Morocco Mall.
Speakers in the video complain how numerous car park attendants illegally charge exorbitant prices for parking.
According to 2M’s report, normal parking prices are between MAD three and five, but several parking guards have been charging between MAD 10 and 20, unfairly high prices.
When answering questions about the issue of parking costs in Casablanca, Samira Razzani, Deputy of the City’s Council who are in charge of car parking, said that “a car driver should only pay MAD three in order to park his/her car at on-street parking.” She continued that “motorcycle drivers have to pay MAD two while truck drivers have to pay MAD five.”
Razziani went on to add that the prices are usually doubled during the night.
