Rabat – After 17 successful years, the city of Tangier is preparing to host the next edition of Tanjazz from September 14 to 17, offering residents and visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the rhythm and culture of jazz music.
The festival will gather together numerous international music groups in performances to be held throughout the city, including the BMCI Ville and Palais Scenes, TANJAzz Club, and the TANJAzz Pub and Auditorium.
The festival will kick off on September 14 with performances by various artists, notably Michaela Rabitsch from Austria, Amparo Velasco’s ‘La Negra’ from Spain, and the Moroccan band ‘Laouma’, whose songs reflect a mixture of soul, blues, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and traditional Moroccan music.
Tanjazz will guarantee lovers of jazz a voyage into the rhythms of the world with Daniel Cacija from Croatia, elected “Best Voice” in 2013 by the American Jazz magazine DownBeat, as well as the classic songs of David Costa Coelho, the duo Bobby and Sue conveying the spirit of the blues, and the two unique voices of the duo CrossFire.
Tanjazz 2017 will also remain faithful to its annual tradition of giving youth an opportunity to showcase their talents, in a singing competition between five groups chosen from a series of auditions held in February.
