Rabat – The Points Guy has classified Marrakech’s Menara airport as the most beautiful airport in the world due to its new terminal, according to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
The Points Guy’s ranking puts Marrakech’s airport above Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (DOHA), Hong Kong International Airport, and Singapore’s Changi airport.
“Upon arrival, travelers are greeted by a modern airport that still pays homage to the strong cultural history of Morocco in the form of classical Islamic geometric patterns, high glass-domed ceilings and, of course, lots and lots of light,” explained the Points Guy.
Menara’s new terminal was inaugurated in 2016 by King Mohammed VI, and it was constructed in order to reinforce the attractiveness of the city of Marrakech, which is considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, said the National Airports Office (ONDA).
Taking fifth place is Denver International Airport, followed by airports in Bangkok, Baku, Madrid, Beijing, Chicago, Tokyo, and Minneapolis-Saint Paul.
In March, Menara Airport was named among the top 11 airports in the world, according to Italian news website TGCOM24.
The outlet achieved the ranking in part due to the beauty of the edifices and architectural design.
The Moroccan airport took the fourth position in the international ranking and was the only airport from North Africa and the Middle East to make it to the list.
