Rabat – The Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment will establish centers in four sub-Saharan countries– Burkina Faso, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Chad – as part of a pilot project that will be launched next November in Dakar.

“The project will allow us to set up a detection and treatment system for cervical and breast cancer,” said the Secretary General of the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health, Robert Kargougou, told Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), following a meeting in Ouagadougou with a team of Moroccan specialists led by the kingdom’s ambassador to Burkina Faso, Farhat Bouazza.

“We have also agreed that two Burkinabe gynecologists will continue training in Morocco in the field of diagnosis and treatment of cervical and breast cancer, after which they will share their experiences and expertise with their colleagues from Burkina Faso, ”the Burkinabe official said.

Dr. Youssef Chami Khazraji, Project Coordinator at Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, stressed the importance of the meeting to increase inter-African health cooperation.

“We have been aware of the needs and especially the priorities of the Burkina be Ministry of health in the area of ??prevention and control of this disease and we will work together as part of a cooperation project between Morocco and Burkina Faso,” said Khazraji.

The doctor added that the pilot project will be developed in collaboration with the International Center for Research on Cancer, which is affiliated to the World Health Organization (WHO).

This new health structure will be implemented not only in Burkina Faso, but also in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Chad.
