According to the statement the cell was composed of eight members and followed the extremist religious ideology of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
The terrorist organization, which was active in the cities of Oued Zem, near Khouribga, and in Tangier, was on the look for explosive devices to cause large-scale terrorist acts in sensitive sites across the kingdom.
The operation seized one shotgun, ammunition, knives, paramilitary clothing, computer equipment, and propaganda documents for the Islamic State.
According to the same source, the members–aged between 21 and 31 years old–were planning to murder one of their own, after doubting his loyalty to the terrorist organization.
The statement declared that this operation is line with the country’s efforts to avert the great danger posed by supporters of the Islamic State in Morocco.
