Rabat – The group Vita Couture – Diprints has opened two new textile factories in Tangier, Morocco valued at MAD 220 million (approximately $23 thousand).
The group Vita Couture – Diprints will ensure the design, development, and manufacturing of women’s and girls’ clothing for major brands, including sourcing fabrics and accessories.
The factory named Vita Couture will produce ready-to-wear clothing, across 20 production lines. It will employ up to 2,200 people.
Meanwhile, the other factory called, Diprints, will specialize in digital fabric printing and is itself a joint venture with Spanish textile company Santandarina. The factory will employ 110 people.
Thanks to the large production capacity of the factories, the group will be able to cater to large orders by international fashion companies, meanwhile competing with Spanish and Turkish factories. All the clothing produced will be for export.
The Minister of Industry, Investment, Commerce and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, stated that the factories’ operations are aligned with Morocco’s current strategy to develop the textile industry, by reinforcing its production capacities and diversifying its fast-fashion operations.
The textile export industry is of strategic importance for Morocco and it has been growing for the last seven years. It is one of the main contributors to national industry operations. The textile sector reached a value of MAD 38 billion in 2018, employing over 79 000 people and exporting to 75 countries.
