Casablanca – The city of Fez is set to host a new cultural and entertainment program aimed at bringing fresh life to one of its busiest historic squares. Local authorities announced that activities will begin on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Bab Boujloud Square, starting at 5 p.m.

The initiative is led by the Commune of Fez in partnership with the Fes-Sais Association, under the supervision of the Wilaya of the Fes-Meknes region. It is part of a broader push to boost the city’s cultural and tourism appeal, especially as visitor numbers continue to recover in Morocco’s major destinations.

Organizers say the program will feature a mix of performances, including storytelling sessions, theatrical performances, musical shows, and street parades. The idea is to keep the square alive, make it feel like something is always happening.

Events will run every week from Friday through Sunday. Officials hope the regular schedule will help sustain foot traffic and encourage both locals and tourists to spend more time in public spaces.

Fez is also getting a boost from new international connections and fresh funding. Discover Airlines recently added the city to its route network, opening direct links from European hubs and making it easier for travelers to reach the historic destination without long stopovers.

At the same time, the city gained global attention after winning a $1 million award in the Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayors Challenge. The prize supports an urban innovation project focused on improving mobility and access within the medina, aiming to ease congestion while preserving the fragile heritage site. Together, better air access and international recognition are expected to strengthen Fez’s position on the cultural tourism map.

City officials are now calling on residents to take part in the program, hoping to create a lively atmosphere that reflects the spirit of Fez itself.
