The sister of Dounia, Ibtissam, was previously jailed as part of the "Hamza mon bb investigation."
Rabat – Moroccan police have seized the passport of singer Dounia Batma and prohibited her from leaving the territory as part of the ongoing investigation to identify the suspects behind the “Hamza mon bb” affair, Moroccan French-speaking news outlet Le360 reported earlier today.
Hamza mon bb, meaning “Hamza my baby” in English, is an infamous social media account active on Instagram and Snapchat. Since 2016, the account has been publishing videos of celebrities to tarnish their reputation and blackmail them.
Police in Marrakech arrested the sister of Dounia, Ibtissam, on December 26 for her alleged involvement in the case .
The police also summoned Dounia for investigating her alleged links to the case.
In addition to Dounia’s passport, police also seized her phone to carry out technical expertise.
A Moroccan YouTuber known as “Soukaina Glamor” confirmed Dounia’s involvement in the case.
Police also reportedly arrested several other people for posting videos and blackmailing celebrities.
Although very active on social media, Dounia has not shared any new posts on her social media accounts since news broke of her summoning to the police station for a statement.
Latest news indicate that both Dounia and her sister have been temporarily released from police custody, pending further investigations in the case. Footage has since emerged of the two sisters leaving the police station. They both refused to comment to the press on their arrest, however.
