Rabat – App Annie, app analytics and app market data company, has published a list of the 10 most downloaded application of the past decade.
The American streaming movies & TV shows application Netflix is the number 1 application of the decade in terms of consumer spending. Tinder and Pandora Music followed Netflix, with the Chinese Tencent Video and the Japanese Line (instant messaging, voice and video calls) coming in fourth place.
The list of the top 10 Apps by all-time consumer spending also includes Chinese app IQIYI, Spotify, Youtube, HBO NOW, and Kwai (China).
Social networks largely dominate the list of the most downloaded applications of the decade, with Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram holding the four top spots.
The list of the top 10 apps by all-time downloads also includes Snapchat, Skype, and TikTok, followed by UC Browser (Alibaba Group, headquartered in China), YouTube, and Twitter.
In terms of video games, Subway Surfers, Candy Crush Saga, and Temple Run 2 topped the downloads of the decade. The list also includes My Talking Tom, followed by Clash of Clans, Pou, hill Climb Racing, Minion rush, and Fruit ninja 8 Ball Pool.
The Danish game Subway Surfers owes its first position to its popularity in India, according to App Annie.
“It surprised me to learn that Subway Surfers had so much traction as the top downloaded game of the decade, driven by its strong adoption in India,” said App Annie.
